This art journey is a perfect opportunity to express one’s artistic talent, soul and feelings through carving, working with clay and forming geometric objects and figures
Carving and Building in Clay Art
The earth here is very soft and friendly to work and play with. This reddish earthen clay is known locally as ” TTEN” and in use to build these majestic Ksours and mud houses, stables for donkeys, and as sheltering rooms in the Oasis for the farmers. Moreover, this natural clay is used to make cooking pots, storing jars, serving plates, and more pottery creations…
Our Carving and Building in Clay Art Event is a wonderful chance to touch clay, make your art creation, express yourself through this therapeutic earth interconnection.
Hunting For Fossils: Carving & Building in Clay Art Event
Since the middle, last century Fossil carving and marble extraction flourished in the region of Tafilalet. In fact, the area Rissani was a floor of a large prehistoric ocean resulting in all those sea animals and fossils clearly seen within the rocks polished here.
While dozens of mines have a license to dig for fossils here, each one’s found is different of age, type, and color of fossils as well the raw materials found here.
From Ammonites, Trilobites, Orthoceras, Sediment Squid, and many other types of incredible sea creatures that we can explore together during this Art Event.
The concept is to give you a piece of rock to hunt for your magical treasure fossil piece. Good Luck!
To Do List In Tafilalet
- Visit some of the 14th-century Ksours
- Enjoy a Morning or Sunset Walk in the Fields
- Stay with a local Family home inside the Ksar
- Cycle the 10 km paved road around the Oasis
