In the documentary video below, the BBC speaks about the Archaeological town of Sijilmassa and neighboring Tafilalet. In fact, a lot to be excavated here to unveil the architectural elements of this ancient trading capital of the north and Sub-Saharan Africa dating to more than 13 centuries.

It is believed that the flood of Ziz valley ( with Ghris river ) erased the rich gold city and pushed the survived population to settle in the outskirts in the Oasis of Tafilalet.

Back in the golden time Caravans stopped here with merchandise taken from Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Algeria, and Morocco. In fact, their products are from salt, gold, spices, leather, sugar, and other goods from all over the area and beyond. Ô History!
